WHAT HAPPENED?
Raphinha joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Leeds for a reported fee of €58 million (£49m/$63m). While the Brazilian had been the most consistent forward during Xavi's tenure at Barcelona, he has always played second fiddle on the right wing; first to Ousmane Dembele and then to Lamine Yamal. With the Catalan club now wanting to sign Athletic Club's Nico Williams and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo, it has become a possibility that they could part ways with the Brazilian to finance those deals and make way for the duo.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Raphinha has maintained that he wants to continue playing with Barcelona for at least the upcoming season, however, Catalan publication SPORT has reported that Al-Nassr are looking to offer Barcelona a Saudi Pro League record fee of €100 million (£84.5m/$108.7m) to sign the 27-year-old winger. The fee would help Barcelona attain their financial requirements for Williams and Olmo's deals and if Al-Nassr do actually make the offer, they will try their best to convince Raphinha to sign with the Saudi Pro League side.

As per an earlier report by Mundo Deportivo, Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal are also interested in making a move for Raphinha, who is very liked by boss Jorge Jesus, and have offered Barcelona close to €65 million (£54.9m/$70.6m), however, the Catalan side believe that the Brazilian is worth close to €90 million (£76.2m/$97.8m).

WHAT NEXT FOR RAPHINHA?
The Brazilian has been elected by Hansi Flick to join the squad for their pre-season United States tour where they play Manchester City, Real Madrid and AC Milan. It is possible that if a deal is to be struck, it will be after their completion of the Stateside tour.
